DUSHANBE, January 9, Asia-Plus -- the Agency for Journalistic Investigation has been set up under Tajik Journalists’ Union.
Akbarali Sattorov, head of Tajik Journalists’ Union, told Asia-Plus that the agency would be engaged in preparing analytical materials on the most topical aspects of political, socioeconomic and cultural life of the country in a form of journalistic investigation.
To prepare such materials the agency intends to enlist the services of skilled journalists, experts as well as students of journalism departments at Tajik higher educational institutions, Mr. Sattorov said.
According to him, they also plan to establish journalistic investigation study groups that will also act as agency’s branches. Sattorov noted that the groups would conduct training courses introducing the main methods by which journalists conduct research.
The journalistic investigation study groups will be set up at Russian-Tajik Slavonic University (RTSU) and Tajik National University, and the most interesting articles authored by students will be published in newspapers, Sattorov said.
Journalistic investigation is approached from the perspectives of critical analysis, professional assessments and practice, raising issues around the role of journalism in society.
