DUSHANBE, January 10, Asia-Plus -- The Lenin monument, which currently stands in the Dushanbe Central Park, will be handed over to Tajikistan’s Art Holdings, Asia-plus has learned from Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor.
According to him, by capital mayor’s resolution the monument was transferred to jurisdiction of Tajik Art Holdings, and the Art Holdings will decide the destiny of the Lenin monument.
Tajik Communists have repeatedly applied to the Tajik authorities asking for permission to relocate the Lenin monument to the place in front of the building housing the Communist Party (CPT) head office. The party is ready to fund the relocation work itself.
We will recall that the Dushanbe Central Park is under reconstruction, which is scheduled to be finished next year, and memorial complex to the founder of Tajik-Persian classic literature Abu Abdullo Rudaki will be installed there.
