KHUJAND, February 19, Asia-Plus -- Border officer has got a long jail term for drug trafficking.
A military court in Khujand, Sughd province sentenced border officer, Captain Dilmurod Mukhtorov, to 6 ½ years in prison on February 15. The sentence followed his conviction on charges of drug trafficking and smuggling.
According to the Khujand military court, the investigation has established that Captain Mukhtorov, the officer with a border unit deployed in Sughd’s Panjakent district, assisted local resident Mohira Chumoqova with transporting 824 grams of raw opium to neighboring Uzbekistan.
Ms. Chumoqova got a jail term of six years. Besides, Mukhtorov’s wife Rano Botirova was sentenced to five years in prison for storing 22 grams of narcotic drug, the source at the Khujand military court said.
