DUSHANBE, March 3, Asia-Plus -- $17,000 were remitted to Tojiksodirotbonk (TSB) from abroad via the money transfer system PrivateMoney in February, Asia-Plus has learned at TSB’s headquarters in Dushanbe.
The PrivateMoney system was launched in the bank on February 1, and money was remitted mostly from Russia and Ukraine.
This money transfer system is a joint product of PrivatBank (Ukraine) and MosKomPrivatBank (Russia), and it has worked since 2002. The PrivateMoney system has already been launched in Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Latvia, Portugal, and Cyprus.
In his work, TSB also uses the money transfer systems such as Anelik, Contact, InterExpress, Migom, Western Union, Allur, Bystraya Pochta, Unistream, and Blizko.
In the meantime, according to Tajik central bank, physical entities last year remitted $1.774 billion to Tajik banks, which is 57.3 percent more than in 2006.
TSB was established in December 1990 as the Tajik branch of the Vnesh Econom Bank of the former Soviet Union, and it initially specialized in trade and import-export banking. Later this branch was reorganized into a Joint-Stock Commercial Bank “Tajikvnesheconombank”. In June 1999 the bank was renamed and registered as Tojiksodirotbonk or TSB.
Headquartered in Dushanbe, TSB has 10 branches in the main cities of Tajikistan and covering all regions of the country. Its clients include the biggest Tajik trading companies, other enterprises, entrepreneurs, and some of the embassies and diplomatic organizations based in Dushanbe.
