DUSHANBE, March 11, Asia-Plus -- Tajik school students have an opportunity to take part in the Asian Pacific Math Olympiad (APMO) for the first time.
Speaking in an interview with Umed Karimov, a researcher at the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences, said that six 9th -11th grade students will be competitively selected for taking part in the Olympiad.
Mr. Karimov noted that school students from the United States, China, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will also participate in the AMPO.
He added that Tajikistan had also received invitation to take part in the International Olympiad in Madrid, Spain.
The Asian Pacific Math Olympiad is a regional mathematics competition which involves countries from the Pacific Rim, such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia. The USA also takes part in the Olympiad. Since 1989, the AMPO is held in March every year.
