DUSHANBE, March 26, Asia-Plus – On Tuesday March 25, Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki visited the site of Sangtuda-2 power plant dam project, which has been undertaken by Iranian companies.

During the visit, Mottaki met directors of the project and the laborers.

Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi and Afghan Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Espanta accompanied Mottaki on the visit.

The Sangtuda-2 power plant''s dam is built on the Vakhsh River, some 120 kilometers southeast of Dushanbe.

The project is expected to run with the capacity to generate 220 megawatts of power.

It is expected to cost US$200 million.

Executive operations on the project have started since one year ago.

On an agreement between Iran and Tajikistan, the first phase of the power plant will be operational in next three years.
