KHUJAND, April 4, Asia-Plus - Over the first quarter of the year, 42 new drug-dependent persons have been officially registered with Sughd narcology center, bringing a total number of officially registered drug users in the Sughd province to 1,649, including 109 women, according to the Sughd narcology center.
“Of those 1,649 drug users, 1,570 are heroin users, while the others use raw opium and marijuana,” the source at the Sughd narcology center said, noting that only in Kuhistoni Mastchoh, Ayni and Shahrisotn district no cases of drug using have been reported.
According to the Sughd regional prosecutor’s office, seven residents of Khujand, three of Mastchoh and one of Istaravshan died of drug overdose last year.
