KHUJAND, April 9, Asia-Plus -- A large consignment of heroin was discovered in northern Tajikistan last night, Asia-Plus has learnt from Sughd counternarcotics directorate chief Fayzullo Abdulloyev.
According to him, a drug cache containing of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing 123.9 kilograms was discovered in the village of Pashkif in Sughd’s Kuhistoni Mastchoh district.
“According to operational information, the heroin was transported to the Sughd province via the Rasht district,” the Sughd counternarcotics directorate chief said, adding that it is the largest single consignment of heroin sized in the region over the past five years.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted and investigation is under way.
