KHUJAND, April 10, Asia-Plus  -- Over the first three months of this year, 15 new cases of HIV has been detected in the northern Sughd province, bringing a total number of people living with HIV in the province to 305, Asia-Plus has learned from the Sughd AIDS Center. 

Among 15 HIV sufferers that have been registered in Sughd over the report period 13 are men and two are women.  

The source at the Sughd AIDS Center noted that 61 HIV sufferers, including 44 men and 17 women, were registered in northern Tajikistan last year

 “In all, 305 HIV sufferers have been registered in the Sughd province since 2001; 43 of them died and 46 other HIV sufferers are currently undergoing preventive treatment,” the source said, adding that two HIV sufferers have died in the region since the beginning of this year.
