KULOB, April 11, Asia-Plus  -- Since the beginning of the year, the branch of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) in Khatlon''s Vose district has provided some 2.5 million somonis in short-term loans to local cotton-growing farms, Asia-Plus has learned from Anvar Nodirov, the head of the Amnonatbonk branch in Vose.  

“In all, 91 cotton-growing farms, owning totaling 1,844 hectares of cotton fields, have received the mentioned loans,” Nodirov said, noting that those 2.5 million somonis were provided to the bank from a 110 million somonis state loan allocated to banks for funding the cotton sector.  

He also noted that the branch had also provided loans for a total amount of nearly 1 million somonis from its own fund.  Some 70 percent of these loans have gone to supporting production of vegetable, potatoes as well as meat and milk products and development of bee keeping in the district.
