DUSHANBE, April 14, Asia-Plus -- Last weekends, Tojikmatlubot (consumer’s cooperation) organized the second regular fair of farm produce in Dushanbe.
This time, the fair was organized on the Barakat market in Dushanbe’s Ismoili Somoni district.
The Tojikmatlubot deputy head Khurshed Sangakov said that farmers participating at the far had offered their products at prices much lower than the present prices on the city markets.
“Thus, they were selling beef at the rate of 13-15 somonis per kilogram, potatoes at the rate of 1.00-1.10 somonis per kilogram, onions at the rate of 05-08 somoni per kilogram, and carrots at the rate of 0.5-0.6 somoni per kilogram” Sangakov said, noting that some 5 tons of vegetables were sold on Saturday, the first day of the fair.
As it had been reported earlier, the first such fair was organized in Dushanbe’s Shohmansour district last week. Tojikmatlubot holds such fairs in order to run prices of meat and other farm produce in Dushanbe down, according to Sangakov.
