DUSHANBE, April 15, Asia-Plus  -- An enlarged board meeting of the Ministry of Health (MoH) that was held on April 14 considered the health sector reform concept.   

The source at a MoH said that senior representatives from the ministry, heads of regional and district health directorates as well as representatives from international organizations closely cooperating with the health sector had participated at the meeting.   

Speaking at the meeting, Salomiddin Miraliyev, an adviser to the minister, reported on the reform process, its goals and objectives.  He, in particular, noted that the reform process requires certain financing and it should be implemented gradually.   

The Health Minister Nusratullo Salimov, for his part, pointed to the necessity of paying more attention to the reforming process, calling for increasing the number of pilot districts across the republic.  He also underlined the important role of international organizations in carrying out health reforms.   

The meeting also discussed a number of other problems facing the country’s health sector, including shortcomings in wok of the center for sanitary-epidemiological supervision, training of medical personnel, etc.
