KONIBODOM, July 12, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The city and the district of Konibodom in the Sughd province have 74 nurse vacancies, according to the Konibodom central hospital.
However, 80 young women will graduate from the local Medical College next month and they will work with local medical facilities, the source at the Konibodom hospital said.
Besides, the central hospital in Konibodom is experiencing shortage of oculists (two vacancies), pediatricians (seven vacancies), therapists (five vacancies), and rheumatologists (five vacancies). They now hope for 20 students from Konibodom studying at medical universities.
287 doctors now work with medical facilities in Konibodom; the rate is 16.2 per 10,000 residents, the source said.
Local authorities are taking efforts to provide the Konibodom hospitals with enough medical workers. 60 doctors and 86 nurses currently work on contractual basis and five medical workers were provided with lands for housing, the source at the central hospital in Konibodom said.
