DUSHANBE, July 14, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The European Union Special Representative for Central Asia, Mr. Pierre Morel has arrived in Tajikistan for a two-day working visit.
According to the Tajik MFA, Mr. Morel is holding talks with President Emomali Rahmon and Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi today. The talks are supposed to focus on a progress of implementation of the European Union new strategy for Central Asia.
Mr. Pierre Morel was appointed the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia in October 2006.
The creation, in July 2005, of the post of European Union Special Representative for Central Asia signaled the realization by the EU of the growing importance of this vast region which links Europe and Asia.
