QURGHON TEPPA, August 9, 2008, Asia-Plus -- 14 schools in Khatlon’s Yovon district are currently in a very poor state and need major repairs, Ms. Tojinisso Sharipova, deputy head of the Yovon district, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
“Therefore, same classes are forced to conduct studies in trailers,” said she. “However, with support of parents’ committees we are currently constructing additional classes.” According to her the additional classes will have been finished by the beginning of the new school year.
In all, 77 schools now function in Yovon. Yovon now has 45 teaching vacancies, and schools in the district are experiencing an acute shortage of teachers of the Russian and English languages, physics, mathematics, and chemistry, the Yovon official said.
