KHUJAND, August 25, 2008, Asia-Plus -- A roaring demand for fares for the flight Khujand-Dushanbe has been reported in northern Tajikistan.
The source at the information office at the Khujand airport told Asia-Plus at the end of last week that there are no air tickets from Khujand to Dushanbe till August 26. The number of persons wanting to go to Dushanbe by plane has increased over the past last week. The source at the information office further added that it could not be ruled out that the roaring demand for the air tickets had resulted from recent traffic accidents and natural disasters on the passes on the highway from Khujand to Dushanbe.
Persons even failed to purchase air tickets in advance. Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, young woman from the Spitamen district said that she could not purchase the air ticket for an August 26 flight on August 21.
