KULOB, September 1, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Open joint-stock company Pakhtai Kulob (Kulob cotton-ginning factory) has set cotton-processing prices for local farming units at the rate of 150.00 US dollar per ton, including VAT, which is $48.73 fewer than last year, Asia-Plus has learned at Pakhtai Kulob’s accounting department.
The source at the accounting department said that the company directors’ board had made a decision to lower the cotton-processing prices in connection with severe competition between eleven cotton-ginning factories in the region.
We will recall that five cotton-growing districts in Khatlon’s Kulob region have pledged to yield 79,350 tons of raw cotton from an area of 41,350 hectares this year.
