KHUJAND, September 17, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Local authorities in the northern Sughd province are taking efforts to prepare local educational facilities for autumn-winter 2008-2009.
According to the Sughd education directorate, they have carried out some 73 percent of work on glazing schools and kindergartners – 7,742 square meters of the planned 10,524 square meters. The work is being carried out in 18 cities and districts of the province.
“Isfara, Qairoqqum, Panjakent, Istaravshan, Taboshar, Asht, Ghonchi, Mastchoh, Kuhistoni Mastchoh, Jabborrasulov and Shahriston have already completed the glazing work,” aid the source. “The serious situation is in Konibodom, where only 322 square meters of window glass have been delivered so far instead of the planned 1,200 square meters. Khujand has also carried out only 45 percent of work on glazing the educational facilities.”
