DUSHANBE, October 7, 2008, Asia-Plus -- the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosComInvest) has announced tenders for construction of 15 small hydropower plants in the country.
The source at the GosComInvest said that the hydropower plants with annual generation of electricity ranging from 90,000 kWh to 7.8 million kWh would be constructed in different regions of the country: five of them will be constructed in the Sughd province; four in the Khatlon province; five in districts subordinate to the center; and one in Gorno Badakhshan.
The total estimated budget for implementation of these hydroelectricity projects is more than 12 million US dollars. In case of shortage of finance for construction of any of these plants, GosComInvest is ready to seek additional partners and financial sources.
According to the GosComInvest source, project and feasibility studies for construction of the mentioned power plants have already been worked out. Both legal and physical entities from Tajikistan and other countries may participate in the tenders.
