KULOB, October 13, 2008, Asia-Plus -- A health center was opened at the Zarbdor jamoat in Khatlon’s Kulob district on October 12, bringing a total number of health centers opened in the district under the ADB-sponsored project over the past two years to ten, Davlatali Atoyev,
According to him, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Ministry of Health (MoH), and the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR) are being implementing two health sector support projects in Kulob: Reforming Health Sector in Kulob District and Participation of Community and Public Informational Campaign for Improvement of the Population Health.
He noted that the ADB had provided funds for reforming health sector in the district and the JFPR had provided funds for implementation of the project for raising awareness of local population through establishing 44 community health councils in the district.
Besides, 530 households have been surveyed in district within the framework of the mentioned ADB program with focus given to the study of incomes, expenses on medicines, and access to safe drinking water.
