DUSHANBE, October 15, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Over the third quarter (July-September) of this year, the Youth Labor Exchange at the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs has sent 158 young men to the Russian Federation for seasonal work, the committee head Maliksho Nematov announced at a press conference in Dushanbe yesterday.
Since the beginning of the year, the Youth Labor Exchange has sent 300 young people to Russia, Nematov said.
The Youth Labor Exchange was established in 1998 and since that time, some 7,000 young people from Tajikistan have been sent to Russia for seasonal work through it.
According to the Tajik migration service, some 700,000 Tajik nationals are currently outside the country seeking better employment opportunities.
