KHUJAND, October 22, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The Sughd police directorate reported on October 21 that its officers have seized a large amount of hashish.
According to the Sughd police directorate press service, the operation carried out by police officers in the Bobojonghafurov district led to the seizure of 24.5 kilograms of hashish. “Two packages with 24.5 kilograms of hashish were found in a car belonging to the 31-year-old resident of the Mastchoh district S.H.,” the source said.
The preliminary investigation has established that the seized narcotic drugs belong to the 72-year-old resident of the city of Taboshar Khoujahasan Rahmonov and the 37-year-old resident of Dushanbe Jamila Vazirova.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted on drug-trafficking charges and an investigation is under way.
