DUSHANBE, On October 24, 2008, Asia-Plus -- When recognizing new independent states Tajikistan will follow international documents.
Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi made this remark at a press conference in Dushanbe today, while commenting on the issue of recognition by Tajikistan of independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
“World is changeable, however, I suppose no serious changes have taken place,” the minister said, noting that the events in Caucasus, having local character, have influenced “general atmosphere” to a certain extent.
“As far as recognition of new units is concerned, we will strictly follow international documents, rules existing between countries and in the framework of the United Nations,” Zarifi stressed.
