KHUJAND, October 31, Asia-Plus -- There has been a heavy fall of snow on the Shahriston Pass that has made traffic difficult and a special commission of the Sughd traffic police directorate yesterday went to the pass to regulate traffic there, Asia-Plus has learned from the Sughd traffic police directorate chief Mirzobek Karimov.
“Heavy snowfall has seriously affected traffic on the section of the Dushanbe-Khujand highway from the 197th kilometer to 201st kilometer,” Karimov said, noting that the commission inspected work of all road maintenance services on the pass.
The Sughd traffic police chief also noted that the pass is now closed for traffic in the nighttime.
According to him, six traffic accidents have taken place on the Shahriston Pass since the beginning of this year. Nine persons have been killed and eleven other have been injured in those accidents.
