DUSHANBE, November 4, 2008, Asia-Plus -- As of October 1, 2008, 48.244 people, with 55 percent of them being women, have been registered with employment centers across the country as unemployed, according to the state agency for social protection, employment and migration within the Ministry of labor and Social Protection.
An official unemployment rate is 2.3 percent of the economically active population, which is estimated at 2,060,000, the agency source said.
He further added that another 65,267 people had been registered with the employment centers as jobseekers. According to him, Tajik nationals working as labor migrants outside the country are registered with employment centers as employed our jobless.
