DUSHANBE, November 7, 2008, Asia-Plus  -- Gasoline prices are expected to have been reduced by 15 percent by the end of November, according to the antimonopoly directorate within the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT).  

The source at the antimonopoly directorate said that an agreement had been reached with Russian oil product supplier.  Thus, the price of one liter of 95-octane gasoline in Dushanbe will decrease from 3.60 somoni to 2.70 somoni, with similar price decreases in the other parts of the country, he said.

The source added that the current price of one liter of 92-octane gasoline is 3.10 somoni and the current price of one liter of 76-octane gasoline is 2.90.  

He noted that over the past two months, Tajikistan has imported 25,000 tons of gasoline, while the country’s monthly requirements in gasoline are 20,000 tons.

Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan provide the bulk of Tajikistan’s fuel imports.  The Russian Federation now accounts for 70 percent of the country’s fuel imports.
