KHOROG, November 8, 2008, Asia-Plus  -- The Khaburabot Pass in GBAO’s Darvoz district linking Gorno Badakhshan to Dushanbe via the Rasht Valley has been officially closed for traffic for the winter period, according to the GBAO emergency management agency.      

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the GBAO emergencies official noted that there had been a heavy fall of snow over the past week and it was beyond local road workers’ powers to clear the pass of snow.   

“During the winter and spring months, vehicle will move to and from Dushanbe via Kulob,” the emergencies official said.
