DUSHANBE, November 19, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Mr. Trevor Moore was appointed Her Majesty''s Ambassador to the Republic of Tajikistan in succession to Mr. Graeme Loten, according to information posted on the FCO (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) website on November 18.
Mr. Moore will take up his appointment during January 2009.
The UK Embassy in Dushanbe confirmed this information, noting that Tajik government had agreed to the appointment of Mr. Moore as the UK Ambassador to Tajikistan.
Mr. Moore is a career diplomat. He joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1980 and served as Deputy Head of the FCO Human Right, Democracy and Governance Group 2007-2008. In 2004-2007, he served as Deputy Head of the FCO Counter-Proliferation Department and in 2001-2004, Mr. Moore was the Deputy Head of the FCO Latin America and Caribbean Department. In 1982-2001, he served in overseas postings in Belgrade, New York, Washington and Vienna.
Mr. Moore is married with three sons.
