QURGHON TEPPA, November 5, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Khatlon’s Vakhsh district is experiencing a shortage of schools, Ms. Naziramo Zaripova, the deputy head of the Vakhsh district, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to her, 82 schools functioning in the district are designed to accommodate 20,000 students, while the present number of schools students in Vakhsh is 34,345.
“In 13 schools, lessons are conducted in three shifts,” said Zaripova, “These schools had been built in the 1950s already and six of them are currently in a very poor state.”
82 schools currently function in the district: 28 of them are primary schools; 15 are basic schools and 37 others are secondary schools. Besides, Vakhsh has one boarding school, one lyceum and eight preschool institutions.
