KHUJAND, November 26, 2008, Asia-Plus  -- The number of micro power plants built by residents of the Kuhistoni Mastchoh district, Sughd province has reached 35, Sodiq Rustamov, the head of the Sughd energy and industries department, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, they have built those plants with a total capacity of some 800 kW on their own funds, having collected money or generators and building materials.

“”These micro power plants have the capacity of 2 to 60 kW,” Rustamov said, reminding the 500 kW power plant, costing US$600,000, was introduced into operation in Sughd’s Panjakent district last week.

He further added that two small power plants were currently being built in the Kuhistoni Mastchoh district.  One of these plants, costing 2.1 million somoni, will have the capacity of 500 kW and the other one, costing US$200,000, will have the capacity of 60 kWh.  These power plants are expected to be introduced into operation in 2010.
