KHUJAND, December 5, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Sughd farmers intend to have gathered further some 22,400 of potatoes and rice by the end of the year, according to the Sughd agriculture directorate.
“Local farmers intend to yield more than 10,000 tons of rice and 12,300 tons of potatoes by the end of the year,” the source at the agriculture directorate said, noting that it would be interim harvest.
“It remains to gather rice from 3,750 hectares and potatoes from 618 hectares,” said the source, “Besides they plan to gather further 20,268 tons of grains and more than 16,000 tons of vegetables.”
