DUSHANBE, December 5, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan’s Air-Defense Force has acquired the air-defense and missile system (ADMS) Pechora-2M, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD).
Faridoun Mahamdiliyev, a chief spokesman for a MoD, told Asia-Plus on Friday that the system had been delivered from the Russian Federation in the frames of military-technical cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia.
“Tajik specialists to operate the system have taken special training course in the Russia,” the spokesman said, noting that at present of the CIS states only Russia and Tajikistan are armed with that air defense system.
Pechora - 2М air defense system provides struggle against all aerodynamic means of attack, successfully copes with detection of low-flying and small size targets. The “UV-38” optronic system allowing to find out the air enemy on distance of up to 60 kilometers and ECM-125-2M entered into structure Pechora - 2М to protect the system against HARM type anti radar missiles considerably raise survivability of Pechora - 2М air defense system.
