DUSHANBE, December 6, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The branch of Kharkov Polytechnic Institute is expected to be established in Dushanbe.
Ukraine’s atn.kharkov.ua reported on Friday that visiting Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute Chancellor Leonid Tavazhnyansky have reached an agreement on that subject.
In the course of the talks, the Tajik president noted that many Tajik specialists had graduated from this Kharkov higher educational institution.
Tajikistan also seeks larger quota for students from Tajikistan, according to atn.kharkov.ua. “We have asked to increase quota for Tajik students especially on specialties we need. 30 Tajik students currently study at Kharkov Polytechnic Institute; however this number is not enough. We need at least 100 our students to study at this technical university,” the Tajik leader was cited as saying.
