KHUJAND, December 9, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Despite existing difficulties, industrial enterprises in Khujand, the capital of the Sughd province have managed to increase production volumes, deputy Khujand mayor, Najmiddin Atoyev, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, compared to January-November 2007 index of the volume of production of industrial goods in Khujand amounted to 107.5 percent.
Over the report period, Khujand has produced a total of 182.4 million somoni of industrial goods, which 12.8 million somoni more than in the same period of last year.
Eight of 48 industrial enterprises located in Khujand have failed to reach the January-November 2007 level.
“Of 48 enterprises of Khujand only the plant Sadaf is controlled by state, while others are private,” the deputy mayor said, noting that the Khujand industrial enterprises have received electricity supplies regularly. “There are just some problems with natural-gas supplies,” Atoyev said.
