DUSHANBE, December 9, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The Moscow-based media organization, TAJINFO, has published the first edition of newspaper for Russian Muslims, Minbar Islama (Islam Tribune).
According to the TAJINFO head Muhammad Egamzod, the newspaper is a joint project of TAJINFO and Khabarovsk’s Muslim organization, Mahalla – Al-Furkan.
“Skilled journalist with a large experience of work on religious affairs, Alaudin Yarakhmedov has been appointed as the Minbar Islama chief editor,” Egamzod said, noting that the newspaper will be engaged in coverage of the most pressing issues of religion, including tolerance, inter-religious and inter-cultural dialogues, countering religious extremism, etc.
Egamzod noted that the Central Board of Muslims of Russia had expressed readiness to support the newspaper.
