KHUJAND, December 23, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The Khujand-based sock-producing factory, open joint-stock company (OJSC) Fayz, has lost product market in the country, according to the Sughd energy and industries department.
Since the beginning of this year, the factory has produced a total of 736,500 worth of output. Compared to 2007 the index of the volume of production of goods amounted to 105 percent. In November alone, the factory produced 46,814 somoni worth of socks.
“The factory currently operates at only 8 percent of its rated capacity,” the source said, noting that Fayz is not able to meet the competition with foreign enterprises that supply similar output to Tajikistan.
