KHUJAND, January 7, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Fares on the train Khujand-Dushanbe have doubled.
According to administration of the Khujand railway station, fares on the train Khujand-Dushanbe rose 100 percent on January 1, 2009, reaching 86 somoni for reserved seat and 114 somoni for compartment.
Besides, fares on the rail route from Khujand to Saratov (Russia) have risen nearly 30 percent this year, reaching 580 somoni for reserved seat and 780 somoni for compartment.
The source at the Khujand railway station administration said that the price hike had resulted from the rising cost of transit of trains through the Uzbek territory.
