KHUJAND, January 10, 2009, Asia-Plus -- In December 2008, 55.676 million US dollars were remitted to banks in the Sughd province, which is 2 million dollars more compared to December 2007, according to the branch of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).
The source at central bank’s branch in Khujand noted that Tajik labor migrants remitted more than 777.835 million US dollars to banks in Sughd last year, which is 50 percent more than in 2007.
In December 2008, Sughd residents remitted 16.93 million dollars via local banks abroad for purchase goods, the source said.
