DUSHANBE, January 14, 2009, Asia-Plus -- A large consignment of heroin has been seized in northern Tajikistan.
According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), an operation carried out by officers from the Sughd squad for combating drug trafficking (drug police) on January 13 led to the arrest of the 31-yearold resident of the Istaravshan district Naim Ahmadov.
When searching his house, the drug police officers found more than 31 kilograms of heroin. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Ahmadov and an investigation is under way.
