DUSHANBE, January 15, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- As of January 1, 2009, an aggregate capital of Tajikistan’s savings bank, Amonatbonk, has amounted to 111 million somoni (equivalent to some 32 million US dollars), which is 3.6 percent more than as of the same date of 2008, Amonatbonk head Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov remarked at a press conference in Dushanbe on January 14.

According to him, the bank’s aggregate capital increased due to the Ministry of Finance pouring 6 million somoni into its authorized capital in 2008.

Last year, Amonatbonk’s net profit amounted to 14.7 million somoni and the provided sub-ordinary loan amounted to 3 million somoni.

As of January 1, 2009, the bank’s assets have amounted to 479 million somoni, which is 86 percent more than as of the same date of 2008.

“During last year, 1.1 billion somoni were transferred to accounts of the national budget and 406.4 million somoni were transferred to the social insurance accounts,” said Mahmadaminov, “Over the report period, the bank’s branches provided 700 million somoni in cash to the federally funded organizations, which is 28.1 percent more than in 2007.”

“Besides, Amonatbonk last year provided 28.5 million somoni in communal services'' subsidies for poor families,” Mahmadaminov said.
