KHUJAND, January 19, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Sughd’s largest cooking (cotton) producer, open joint-stock company (OJSC) Assor, is threatened with bankruptcy, Asia-Plus has learned at the Sughd regional administration.
The source at the Sughd administration told Asia-Plus today that the enterprise for producing refined cotton oil that has stood idle for already three years may be declared bankrupt if it does not resume operation in the near future.
“It is the third year that the enterprise administration has promised to re-launch it,” said the source. “However, they have failed to provide the enterprise with raw materials because local farmers prefer to take seeds to small plants.”
