DUSHANBE, January 20, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- President Emomali Rahmon is expected to pay one-day working visit to Moscow in early February.

The MFA information department head Davlat Nazriyev told Asia-Plus on Tuesday that Rahmon’s visit to Moscow is preliminarily scheduled for February 2.  During his stay in Moscow, Rahmon will hold talks with his Russian counterpart, President Dmitry Medvedev, to discuss state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.

The sides are supposed to discuss issues related to agreements reached last year and projects for construction of three small power plant in Tajikistan and joint exploration and development of gas fields in Tajikistan.

Some media reported that It could not be ruled out that Rahmon and Medvedev would also consider legal registration of a joint fund of $10 billion, a decision on establishment of which was made at a two-day informal meeting of heads of state of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan that was hosted by Kazakhstan on December 19-20, 2008.  As it had been reported earlier, the presidents agreed to establish a joint anti-crisis fund of 10 billion US dollars that will be used to support efforts to mitigate effects of the global financial crisis.
