DUSHANBE, January 28, 2009, Asia-Plus -- State of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and France was the focus of a meeting of President Emomali Rahmon with new France’s Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Henry Zipper de Fabiani, in Dushanbe on January 28, according to presidential press service.
During the meeting, President Rahmon noted that France was one of main partners of Tajikistan in Europe and expressed satisfaction with the present level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
In the course of the talks, the two touched upon issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and France in the fields of hydropower engineering and attraction of investments in Tajikistan’s economy.
French diplomat assured Rahmon that Tajikistan might count on France’s assistance for breaking communication deadlock and construction of hydropower facilities, the press service said.
Tajik leader and French ambassador also discussed the present situation in Afghanistan and issues related to expansion of regional cooperation in Central Asia.
