DUSHANBE, February 3, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Tajik Aluminum Company (Talco) has decided to reduce power consumption to 15 million kWh per day following ongoing energy crisis in the country.
Administration of Tajik Aluminum Company (Talco) decided to reduce electricity consumption in all its sub-divisions following severe electricity shortages in the country, Ms. Sayohat Qodirova, a spokeswoman for Talco, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
The measures resulted in the supply of daily electricity being reduced from 21 million kWh to 15 million kWh and more than 100 electrolysis baths were shut down. The company is gradually reducing electricity consumption to 14 million kWh per day.
Talco is currently also introducing a number of other measures to optimize expenses on manpower and reduce expenses connected the transport operation, etc.
