DUSHANBE, February 4, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Prospects of further expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom were a major topic of a meeting of head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Mr. Sharif Said, with the British Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Trevor Moore, which was held in Dushanbe on February 3, according to the CCI press service.
In the course of the talks, the two noted that despite good opportunities of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, bilateral trade currently did not correspondent to its real potential. They outlined launch of joint ventures and holding of exhibitions and business forums as possible spheres that could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.
Mr. Moore was interested in opportunities of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Great Britain in sectors like hydropower engineering and mining, the press service said.
Taking into consideration high level of education in Great Britain, the sides also touched upon issues related to training of business personnel for Tajikistan.
