Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, representative of Barqi Tojik’s branch for Sughd said that yesterday, the province received 3.33 million kWh of electricity kWh. In the meantime, the province’s daily requirements in electricity are 14 million kWh.
“The province now mainly receives electricity from the Qaoroqqum hydroelectric power plant, which currently generates 2.4 million kWh of electricity per day,” said the source. “Of this amount, 1.5 million kWh of electrical power are supplied to industrial enterprises and the remainder used for providing strategic sites with electricity.”
Specialists noted that the situation will not change for better until Turkmen electricity supplies to the country via Uzbek power systems resume. We will recall that Uzbekistan interrupted Turkmen electricity supplies to Tajikistan on January 1, 2009.
