DUSHANBE, February 7, 2009, Asia-Plus – The exchange rate of the US dollar (USD) against the somoni (TJS) is continuing to fall.
Today, a number of currency exchange offices in Dushanbe set the following rates for USD: 3.60 somoni for purchasing and 3.70 somoni for selling. However, major part of the currency exchanges offices in the city was closed.
According to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), the USD exchange rate has shown a downward tendency due to currency intervention made by central bank at the inter-bank currency market.
As of February 7, an official exchange rate of the dollar against the somoni set by the NBT has been 1:3.7275.
