DUSHANBE, February 12, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Press service of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) says that a certain increase in currency trading is to be observed in the domestic currency market.
Currency trading has increased both in the pair dollar/somoni and the pair euro/somoni.
On February 11, Dushanbe’s currency exchange offices purchased USD at the rate of 1:3.73 and sold it at the rate of 1:3.77, the NBT press service said, noting that an average exchange rate of the dollar against the somoni set by Tajik central bank decreased from 1:3.7317 on February 10 to 1:7228 on February 11.
In the meantime, Tojik Sodirot Bonk (TSB) yesterday set the USD exchange rate at 1:3.83 for purchasing and 1:3.85 for selling. Today, the USD exchange rate set by TSB decreased to 1:3.81 and 3:83 respectively.
In another commercial bank, Agroinvestbonk, the USD exchange rate has remained stable for already two days – 1:3.83 for purchasing and 1:3.85 for selling. “The situation has become stable and all our currency exchange offices are currently operating normally,” the source at Agroinvestbon’s head office in Dushanbe said.
Meanwhile, Orienbonk has increased USD exchange purchase/sale rate from 1:3.78 and 1:3.80 on February 11 to 1:3.79 and 1:3,81.
