KHUJAND, February 17, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Five of 48 industrial enterprises based in Khujand are currently not in operation, Asia-Plus has learned from Abdurahim Soliyev, the head of the energy and industries department within the Khujand mayor’s office.
Among them are the city’s largest enterprises such as Atlasi Khujand (silk fabric production), Qolinhoi Khujand (carpet production), Kombinatu Shir (dairy factory) and Sano. “However, administrators of these enterprises have assured that they will resume operation in March,” Soliyev said.
In January, only five of 48 local industrial enterprises failed to fulfill their targets – limited liability company Shohin, open joint-stock company (OJSC) Sharob, JV VT-Silk, JV Textile City and JV Javoni. Despite economic crisis, compared to January 2008 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods in Khujand last month amounted to 115.6 percent, the Khujand official.
