DUSHANBE, February 17, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Under conditions of uneasy relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, any visit of Uzbek delegation to the country is a good sign, Tajik expert Davlat Usmon said in an interview with Asia-Plus, commenting on the upcoming session of the Tajik-Uzbek economic commission in Dushanbe.
However, he expressed doubt that the session of the Tajik-Uzbek intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation that would be held in Dushanbe tomorrow would become “turning point” in relations between the two countries and solve the most acute problems existing in bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
“Under conditions of the global ongoing financial crisis our countries need consolidation an if the Uzbek delegation is coming with good proposals, our side should not neglect such an opportunity and even must take over the initiative, because Tajikistan is interested in this more,” Davlat Usmon said.
